DESCRIPTION:Many people notice our beautiful evergreen trees in winter\, like pines and firs\, but did you know there is a whole host of low-growing plants who green up in winter to capitalize on the light they can gather when most larger trees are leafless? Come join Balsam Mountain Naturalist\, Gina Patton\, to meet the subtle but delightful winter green plants of Western North Carolina like Cranefly Orchid\, Pipsissewa\, and Ressurection Fern. This will be a slow and gentle interpretive hike on the Forest Therapy Trail. Meet at 2pm in the parking lot. If the weather looks questionable\, then check the Trust’s Facebook page to see if we are cancelling or postponing. If nothing is posted\, assume it is a go!
