Many people notice our beautiful evergreen trees in winter, like pines and firs, but did you know there is a whole host of low-growing plants who green up in winter to capitalize on the light they can gather when most larger trees are leafless? Come join Balsam Mountain Naturalist, Gina Patton, to meet the subtle but delightful winter green plants of Western North Carolina like Cranefly Orchid, Pipsissewa, and Ressurection Fern. This will be a slow and gentle interpretive hike. Meet at the Nature Center.
